Lecturer in Media Production at the Erasmus+ Professional Training Course at the Politécnico de Leiria, Portugal

Lecturer Anja Tolar Tomšič of Short-cycle Higher education college Academia Maribor, who teaches courses in the Media Production – 3D Animation module, such as Project Work in 2D Animation and Project Work in 3D Modelling and Animation, visited the Polytechnic University (Politécnico de Leiria) in Caldas da Rainha, Portugal, as part of the Erasmus+ professional training from 5 to 8 July 2023.

During a visit to the Polytechnic University of Leiria (Politécnico de Leiria) in Caldas de Rainhao, Portugal, Tolar Tomšič had the opportunity to meet a number of key individuals from the university. Firstly, a meeting was organised with the Vice-Dean, Professor João Mateus, with whom they reviewed several elements of the school’s academic atmosphere and future orientations.

He then met Professor Nuno Fragata and Professor Fernando Galrito, experts in the field of animation. The discussion covered a wide range of issues related to animation, such as current trends, research projects, and educational techniques.

One of the highlights of the visit to the university, according to the lecturer, was a tour of the university premises, where she received an overview of the research activities. The interactions with teachers and students were also very useful.

Through the exchange of ideas and practical examples, the Mag. Tolar Tomšič gained excellent insight into the teaching approaches used by the university and the creative projects carried out by the students. Visits to project presentations and active participation in intellectual conversation were also a major part of the mobility, providing further input to a better understanding of animation studies.
