The thesis addresses the comprehensive process of planning and implementing a technological procedure for the production of a new product – a gear drum intended for the motorcycle industry. The main goal of the thesis is to highlight the importance of a well-considered selection of the technological process in serial production, as it significantly affects quality, cost, and productivity.

The theoretical part presents key manufacturing processes, with a focus on the development of CNC technology – from NC machines to modern CNC systems. The main types of CNC machines (lathes and milling machines) are described, including their characteristics, advantages, and areas of application.

The following are the stages of production preparation: material reception and inspection, cutting, preparation for machining, and grinding as the final operation after heat treatment. The procedures, materials, machines, and criteria for technology selection are explained.

Special emphasis is placed on CNC machine programming – basic principles, commonly used software packages, and frequent errors are presented. The selection of appropriate cutting materials and tools based on the type of machining is also discussed.

The final chapter of the theoretical part addresses the importance of quality control and the role of the quality department in ensuring product compliance with technical documentation and customer requirements.

The core of the thesis is a case study at the company RIEDL PRECISION d.o.o., where a technological process for manufacturing the gear drum was developed. The characteristics of the part, tolerances, thermal treatment requirements, cost calculation, and efficiency analysis of the process are provided.

In conclusion, the feasibility of serial production is calculated, and current topics are addressed – sustainable development and production digitalization. Their role in the transition to Industry 4.0 and the long-term competitiveness of companies is emphasized.
