Mechanical Engineering
On Tuesday, 22 April 2025, students of the Mechanical Engineering programme visited Energetika Maribor d.o.o., a company responsible for the reliable supply of district heating in the area of the Municipality of Maribor, as part of the Energetics course.
On arrival, the students were warmly welcomed by the company’s team of experts, who presented the operation of district heating, combined heat and power (CHP), and the challenges and opportunities of sustainable energy development. During the tour, students had the opportunity to take a closer look at the operation of the boiler houses, automated control systems and the energy infrastructure that supplies most of the city of Maribor.
Emphasis was also placed on the use of modern technology to optimise energy consumption and reduce environmental impacts. The importance of cooperation with the local community and educational institutions was highlighted, as they believe in the importance of linking theory with practice and involving young professionals in the energy sector.
