Media Production students on a guided tour of the SPEKTER exhibition at the Maribor Art Theatre

First-year students of the Media Production study program at Academia gathered in front of the Maribor Art Gallery at 4:30 p.m. as part of the Media Art and Visual Communication course, where they were welcomed by museum consultant Brigita Strnad. A free guided tour was prepared for the freshmen, offering them an insight into the workings of the gallery and current artistic events.

The presentation began with an introduction to the Maribor Art Gallery, its history, mission, and program, which includes exhibitions, educational content, and projects for various target groups. Special emphasis was placed on the benefits that the UGM offers to art students, as it wants to give them easier access to contemporary art and encourage them to actively participate in the cultural sphere.

This was followed by a guided tour of the current exhibition Spectrum, where students learned about the different approaches of contemporary artists, various media, and the background behind the creation of the exhibited works. The tour was an excellent opportunity to broaden their understanding of visual art and connect the theory they learn in their studies with practice.
