Between 28 April and 2 May 2025, the Headmistress of Academia, Ms. Vida Perko took part in the Erasmus+ training mobility programme organised by Tenerife Job Training (TJT), to which she was recommended by the Association of Slovene Higher Vocational Colleges. The programme was tailored mainly to the staff of educational institutions and included various school visits, training and exchanges of good practice.
One of the key visits was to the EOI Language School in Los Cristianos, where foreign language programmes for adults are taught. The school offers a wide range of languages, such as English, German, Chinese, Spanish, French and others, and focuses on the needs of the tourism industry and employees in various industries.
Another important visit was to IES Las Galletas Vocational School, a secondary school with more than 1000 students from 40 different countries, which also offers higher vocational education programmes with 600 hours of practical work in companies. The school excels in the fields of cosmetics, hairdressing, aesthetics and wellness, but Principal Perko found the computer science programmes, such as systems engineering and web development, particularly interesting, which may also be of interest to VSŠ Academia.
They also visited the newly-built CIFP en Adeje school, which offers courses in computer science and hospitality. They expressed their great desire to cooperate with Slovenia and, above all, their wish to exchange students and cooperate with our schools in the future.
Another important part of the experience was a visit to the University of La Laguna (ULL), the oldest and largest university in Tenerife, to discuss opportunities for research and educational mobility. Ranked among the best in the world, the university offers a wide range of study programmes, including in computer science, and offers excellent opportunities for further cooperation.
Cooperation with institutions in Tenerife has opened up many opportunities for future projects and exchanges, which will certainly benefit VSŠ Academia and its students in the future.
