Dorcas Chepkirui on her practical training experience at VSŠ Academia

Dorcas Chepkirui is a student of Public Administration at Mersin University, Turkey, who has completed her practical training as an Erasmus+ Project Assistant at VSŠ Academia from the beginning of June until October 2023 through an Erasmus+ student exchange.

Dorcas had an exceptional experience during her Erasmus+ practical training at VSŠ Academia, which not only broadened her perspective on the world of project management but also strengthened her ability to work internationally and organize events. The experience has profoundly shaped her professional skills and personal perspectives. Her period as Erasmus+ Project Assistant at the Academia was an intensive practical training in project management, exposing her to planning, implementation, and evaluation.

“Working with professionals and students from different backgrounds has broadened my cultural awareness and improved my ability to communicate effectively in different languages and perspectives.”

In addition to professional skills, the internship was also a personal growth experience, where she learned the importance of resilience, adaptability, and embracing challenges as opportunities for personal growth. She discovered the power of effective communication, teamwork, and leadership, where obstacles became stepping stones and achievements reinforced her confidence in her abilities. Through this experience, she grew not only as a professional but also as an individual, becoming more confident and calm in the face of life’s challenges. The friendships and professional connections she made have become lifelong treasures, and the Erasmus+ program has opened up a global network of peers and mentors.

In the end, the Erasmus+ placement was not just a chapter in her academic life, but a transformation that shaped her into a more confident, empowered, and culturally aware individual. The lessons, challenges, and connections have become invaluable resources that will guide her in her future endeavors. She is grateful for this opportunity and carries the lessons from Maribor as she embarks on the next phase of her career. Erasmus+ and Academia have not only opened doors, they have empowered her to forge her paths and embrace the world with newfound strength and understanding.

“The years in your life don’t count. What matters is the life of your years.” I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the entire Academia VSŠ and to my fellow trainees, Tamara and Tatjana. Your encouragement, guidance and support have been the cornerstone of my Erasmus+ experience. Thank you!”
