Final meeting of the ERASMUS+ project EU-READ&ART in Taranto, Italy

From 26 to 27 June 2023, the final meeting of the ERASMUS+ project EU-READ&ART took place in the beautiful city of Taranto, Italy. The project is setting up Europe’s first digital library of book trailers and creative expression for adults. The project brings together partners from Lithuania, Italy, Greece, Germany, France and Slovenia.

The opening day of the meeting started with a reception at the Giovanni Paisiello Conservatory, where the visiting partners gave a detailed presentation of their activities, which are closely linked to the activities of the EU Read&Art project. The partners then presented their achievements during the final period of the project activities. A lot of time was devoted to the exchange of experiences in the organization of EU-Reading Labs and Reading Clubs at the local level and to the financial reporting of the project. At the end of the first day, a fruitful discussion took place on the possibilities to involve local partners and to disseminate the final results in the partner countries and internationally.

After a delicious lunch at the restaurant La Taverna dei Briganti; near the Conservatory, the partners were treated to an exploration of the beautiful surroundings of Taranto on the Cala Junco, a boat that offered stunning views of the small and large sea of Taranto. The first day ended with dinner at the Stella Maris restaurant and a taste of original Mediterranean delicacies.

On the second day, a guided tour of Taranto, a city rich in cultural history. The cathedral, the historic center, and the Aragonese castle were presented during a walking tour of the town centre. Most of the time was spent visiting the MArTA National Archaeological Museum, which is definitely worth a visit.

In the evening, a public information event and a musical recital took place at the guest Conservatory. In addition to the partners, the event was attended by other international and local guests, mainly writers and avid readers, who participated in the production of the book trailers.
