Guest lecture by Daniel Castro, Adviser for Short-Term Programmes at PUC-RIO University

On Wednesday 15 June 2022, we hosted Daniel Castro, researcher in the field of design and perception and instructor at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro. (Pontificia Universidad Católica de Rio de Janeiro – PUC-RIO). The lecturer responded to an invitation from our school and the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro in the framework of the Erasmus+ KA107 ICM (International Credit Mobility) project for staff mobility for training.

Daniel Castro has more than 15 years of experience in international education and works closely with international students at the University of Rio de Janeiro as a principal advisor for short-term programs, advising them on their career paths.

The guest lecture began with an introduction to the University, which was founded in 1941. Due to a large number of students (more than 12,000), the University is divided into 3 educational centres: the Centre for Social Sciences (CCS), the Science and Technology Centre (CTC) and the Centre for Theology and Humanities (CTCH). In 2019, PUC-RIO was named the fourth-best university in Latin America. Student exchanges and practical training at PUC-RIO are carried out under the auspices of the CCCI (Central Coordination for International Cooperation) programme.

The programme offers all exchange students the possibility of accommodation (international hostels/homestay), assistance in finding a student job, a 90-hour Portuguese as a second language programme, a “Brazilian Seminar” or summer school consisting of 50 hours of extracurricular activities of the student’s choice, and an individual study programme.
