Sara’s Reflections on her Erasmus Journey in Slovenia

Sara Reyad, a student of Design and Visual Communication at Jordan University of Science and Technology, Jordan, has been attending Academia as an exchange student from December 2023 to February 2024.

As Sara Reyad’s time in Slovenia drew to a close, she found herself flooded with emotions, gratitude, and a deep sense of fulfillment. Her journey through the Erasmus+ program at Academia in this beautiful country had been nothing short of transformative, leaving an indelible mark on her life.

From the moment she stepped foot in Slovenia, Sara was enchanted by its breathtaking landscapes, rich history, and warm hospitality. Every cobblestone street, towering castle, and serene lake seemed to whisper stories of centuries past, inviting her to explore and immerse herself in its culture.

“I am glad I had the opportunity to come to Slovenia and meet some incredible people, making unforgettable memories every day. Moreover, I learned more about the rich Slovenian culture that I had never known anything about, including their customs, traditions, and way of life, including the Slovenian cuisine and the traditional carnivals, like Kurentovanje in Ptuj.”

Academically, the Erasmus program provided Sara with opportunities for growth and learning. Working on projects gave her new perspectives and insights that broadened her understanding of her field. Collaborating with students from diverse backgrounds challenged her to think critically, communicate effectively, and embrace the value of cultural exchange.

But perhaps the most profound aspect of Sara’s Erasmus journey was the personal growth and self-discovery it facilitated. Stepping out of her comfort zone, navigating unfamiliar surroundings, and embracing new challenges pushed her to develop resilience, adaptability, and self-confidence. Thanks to the diverse experiences and encounters that shaped her time in Slovenia, she became more independent and empathetic than ever before.
