Students from the VSŠ Academie spent the past week discovering the city of Maribor as part of their Slovenian language course with lecturer Nusa Slukan. The main activity of the week was a visit to the Slovene National Theatre Maribor and the University of Maribor.
At the beginning of April, foreign students enrolled in various study programmes at the Maribor University of Applied Sciences discovered the beauty and history of the city of Maribor together with lecturer Nusa Slukan. As part of the excursion, they also prepared short presentations of important points of interest in the city.
The tour started at the Slovenian National Theatre, where student Evgenija presented the importance of this central cultural institution, which has enriched Maribor with quality theatre, ballet and opera performances for decades.
In the Main Square, Andrei gave a presentation on the history of one of the oldest squares in the city, famous for its architectural features and the important historical events that took place there.
Marisa introduced the Old Bridge, which connects the left and right banks of the Drava and is one of the most recognisable symbols of the city. She stressed its importance in the past and today as a popular walking point.
The tour ended at the University of Maribor, where Nemanja presented the activities of the second largest university in Slovenia, its study programmes and the role it plays in the development of the region and in connecting with international students.
