The thesis presents a comprehensive comparison between automatic and manual joint assembly, focusing on key aspects of modern manufacturing: productivity, cost-effectiveness, workplace safety, and sustainability. Through a theoretical overview and practical analysis in a real production environment, we evaluated the advantages and disadvantages of both approaches and assessed their applicability in industry.

In the experimental part, we conducted time measurements for the production of individual joints, analysed direct and indirect costs (including energy, maintenance, and labour), and examined health and safety risks for employees.

Special attention was given to the impact of automation on reducing physical strain and repetitive movements, which are common causes of injuries in traditional work processes.

The results clearly confirm that the automatic assembly cell ensures higher repeatability, a lower defect rate, shorter changeover times, and greater production stability. Due to reduced dependence on the human factor, processes become more predictable and consistent, which is reflected in better product quality. Additionally, automation enables uninterrupted operation, which leads to significant long-term savings.

From the perspective of ergonomics and sustainability, automatic systems prove to be a more favourable solution, as they reduce employee strain and contribute to lower energy consumption and waste generation. The thesis concludes with guidelines for companies considering a transition to automated assembly and emphasizes the broader importance of comprehensive process optimization.

Thus, automatic assembly represents not only technological advancement but also contributes to improved working conditions and the long-term competitiveness of the company.

By implementing an automatic assembly cell, companies do not only optimize direct production indicators, but also establish a foundation for digitalization and upgrading in line with Industry 4.0 concepts. Process traceability, sensor integration, and the ability to analyse data in real time enable more precise quality management and faster market adaptation.

Automation therefore becomes a strategic investment that goes beyond mere replacement of human labour and opens new possibilities for innovation, greater flexibility, and long-term business growth.
