An Invaluable International Experience for Civil Engineering Student Martina Denkova
Construction & Civil Engineering

Civil engineering student Martina Denkova successfully completed a six-month professional traineeship in Malta as part of the Erasmus+ programme, where she gained valuable experience at the construction company Aquilina and Sammut Alessi from 1 July to 19 December 2025.
The decision to undertake mobility represented an important milestone in her academic and professional journey. From the beginning of her studies, she had aimed to gain practical experience in an international environment, as working abroad provides a broader perspective on the profession and fosters the development of key competencies. Due to its intensive construction activity, Malta proved to be a suitable destination for this type of traineeship.
During her mobility period, she was involved in various phases of construction projects, both in the office and on construction sites. She participated in monitoring the progress of works, taking measurements, supervising execution, reviewing documentation, and communicating with project stakeholders, which gave her comprehensive insight into the course of construction processes.

The mobility experience contributed not only to her professional development but also to her personal growth. Living and working abroad required independence, adaptability, and responsibility, while also providing opportunities to connect with young people from different countries and to develop intercultural competencies.
The Erasmus+ traineeship in Malta represents one of the most significant experiences of her studies and will have an important impact on her further academic and professional path.
