The 2022 Security Student of the Year is Jože Kirbiš

The Student of the Year 2022 of the Security programme was awarded to Jože Kirbiš, who was the most successful and fastest in completing the requirements of the Security programme of the 2020-2022 generation.

1. What does the title of Security Student of the Year 2022 mean to you?

Certainly, this title is a reward for the effort I have put into my studies.

2. Why did you choose to study at Academia Maribor?

I chose to study security at Academia VSŠ because of my company EVIS. The formal education I have received from this study has enabled me to be the operator of my own business. 

3. What do you enjoy most about your studies?

Although I have been working in the field of technical security for 18 years, during my studies I have learnt things that I did not know before belonged to this category. For example, I have learnt about several perspectives of the law in physical security, which will be very helpful for me in my profession.

I really liked the preparedness of the lecturers, the quick response and the student-lecturer relationship.

4. Where do you see yourself after graduation? Will you stay loyal to the company you work for?

Evis Technical Security is a young company, 5 years old and for now we have a plan to stick with the company. As the company is an importer of 2 alarm systems, AMC from Italy and Labor Strauss from Austria, development and consistency in the innovation of alarm systems is essential in the company as the technology is evolving rapidly.

5. What advice would you give to prospective students for a successful study?

Don’t hesitate! Even though you may be short of time, try to do all your coursework regularly.
