Collection of personalized skateboard designs
Graphic Design

The purpose of my thesis, titled “Collection of Personalized Skateboard Designs,” is to present the skateboard as an expressive tool of the skateboarding subculture. Throughout history, skateboarding art has not been treated as real art and has only recently gained wider recognition.
Through research and the execution of my thesis, I aim to highlight the significance of the skateboarding movement in art and explore the Slovenian skateboarding community. In my thesis, I will investigate the historical importance of the skateboarding movement on culture and how skateboarding art has evolved. I will spotlight some key artists who have contributed to the development of this art form.
My research will also cover how skateboards were personalized in the past and the techniques used.
Additionally, I will present how skateboard personalization is carried out today, highlighting the topic of mass industrial skateboard design. I will describe the process of personalizing skateboards, the best approach to it, and what skateboard personalization means to its users. I will create a questionnaire on the topic of personalization to obtain detailed responses from clients, which I will use to realize the client’s personal vision through design.
In my thesis, I will also explore the possibilities of personalization with the help of artificial intelligence, specifically art generators of images and drawings that have gained popularity online in recent years. I will introduce artificial intelligence as a tool for anyone with internet access, regardless of whether they are artists or not.
I will also examine the legal and ethical aspects of using AI generators and how this impacts the art market.
A key point in my thesis will be the comparison between the resulting products: one that I will create myself and one that will be created by artificial intelligence. The comparison will be made by selected individuals, for whom the product was made, expressing their opinion on which design better represents their vision
