The thesis titled “The visual image of a clothing brand, its product design, and its marketing” was created out of a desire to develop integrated graphic and visual images that can compete with other products on the market. The thesis aims to confirm or reject the hypotheses presented in the following chapters.
The thesis consists of two parts. The theoretical part explores what an integrated visual image is and what is required to complete it. This section presents examples of good and bad practices, as well as current trends in the profession.
The purpose is to gain a better understanding of corporate identity and to develop insight into production processes and different printing methods, as this knowledge is needed to build a visually appealing and successful clothing brand. The thesis also explores various printing and advertising techniques to ensure the final product reflects a blend of the most environmentally friendly processes and is produced sustainably.
The theoretical part also examines the market in which the brand was introduced. It analyses the competition and shows how the brand can be positioned to reach the target audience in a way that is competitive, or even superior, to other brands in the same market.
The practical part of the thesis presents the designs for marketable products. It also includes the overall graphic design and describes all design processes, from the initial ideas and sketches to the final versions. The print designs were created digitally in Adobe Illustrator, and the promotional materials were produced in Adobe Photoshop.
This topic was chosen because, as a designer, I have discovered new production processes, gained deeper insights into the world of graphic design, and improved my skills and knowledge through this thesis.
The topic also arose from a desire to express myself creatively through garment printing and motif design, to create saleable items, and to develop my own brand, which I can manage and expand in the future. The thesis represents the culmination of all the knowledge I have gained throughout my studies.
